The passage highlights dharmic kingship: a ruler honors virtue (Rama’s guṇas), follows proper counsel through the purohita, and undertakes major political acts (coronation) in alignment with sacred timing and ritual order, emphasizing legitimacy, restraint, and reverence for auspicious discipline.
Markandeya recounts how King Dasharatha, pleased while contemplating Rama’s virtues, speaks to his priest and orders preparations for Rama’s coronation, noting that the day’s Pushya nakshatra and an especially auspicious night-yoga make the time suitable; he also instructs that Rama be informed.
