Koṭikāśya’s Inquiry to the Radiant Woman near the Kadamba (कोटिकाश्यप्रश्नः)
atha sarve raṇaṁ muktvā prayātāḥ khecarāḥ divam | asmān evābhikarṣanto dīnān muditamānasāḥ ||
The verse highlights the ethical consequence of arrogance and wrongdoing: those who act from pride can be swiftly reduced to helplessness, while their opponents—here the Gandharvas—act with confident superiority, underscoring the moral reversal that follows adharma.
After the clash, the Gandharvas stop fighting on the ground, ascend into the sky, and forcibly drag Duryodhana and his party along, while Duryodhana describes their own miserable condition and the Gandharvas’ triumphant mood.
