अथाभिद्रुत्य महिषो देवांश्षिक्षेप तं गिरिम्,परंतु महिषासुरने देवताओंका पीछा करके उनके ऊपर वह पहाड़ पटक दिया। युधिष्ठि!! उस भयानक पर्वतके गिरनेसे देवसेनाके दस हजार योद्धा कुचलकर धरतीपर गिर पड़े
athābhidrutya mahiṣo devān kṣipepa taṃ girim | yudhiṣṭhira, tasya bhīṣaṇasya parvatasya patanena devasenāyā daśa-sahasrāṇi yodhāḥ pīḍitāḥ kuṭṭitāś ca bhūmau nipetuḥ ||
马尔坎德耶说道:“随后,水牛魔阿修罗猛然冲上前,将那座山掷向诸天。噢,尤提士提罗!当那可怖的山峰轰然坠落时,天军之中一万名战士被碾碎,倒伏于大地。”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The passage underscores how unchecked force and hostility (adharma) can cause indiscriminate destruction, even to disciplined hosts; it also frames suffering in war as a moral warning about the catastrophic reach of violent power.
Mārkaṇḍeya narrates that Mahīṣāsura rushes after the gods and hurls a mountain at them; when it crashes down, a vast number of the gods’ warriors—ten thousand—are crushed and fall to the earth.
