Adhyāya 22: Śālva’s Weapon-Shower, Dāruka’s Wounding, and the Māyā-Report of Vasudeva’s Father
वैशम्पायन उवाच एवमुकक््त्वा महाबाहु: कौरवं पुरुषोत्तम: । आमन्त्रय प्रययौ श्रीमान् पाण्डवान् मधुसूदन:,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! ऐसा कहकर पुरुषोंमें श्रेष्ठ महाबाहु श्रीमान् मधुसूदन कुरुनन्दन युधिष्ठिरकी आज्ञा लेकर द्वारकाकी ओर चले
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: evam uktvā mahābāhuḥ Kauravaṃ puruṣottamaḥ | āmantrya prayayau śrīmān Pāṇḍavān Madhusūdanaḥ ||
毗湿摩波耶那(Vaiśampāyana)说:说罢此言,光辉的摩度苏陀那(Madhusūdana)——人中至上、臂力雄伟——向般度诸子(Pāṇḍava)辞别;并在俱卢之王、即由提施提罗(Yudhiṣṭhira)的允准下,启程前往堕罗迦(Dvārakā)。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dhārmic conduct in social and royal settings: even a supreme hero like Kṛṣṇa observes propriety—seeking consent, taking leave respectfully, and honoring the authority of the rightful leader (Yudhiṣṭhira).
After finishing his message or counsel, Kṛṣṇa (Madhusūdana) formally bids farewell to the Pāṇḍavas, obtains Yudhiṣṭhira’s assent, and departs for Dvārakā, marking a transition to the next narrative movement.
