Udyoga Parva, Chapter 81: Krishna Sets Out as Envoy
tām uvāca mahābāhuḥ keśavaḥ parisāntvayan | acirād drakṣyase kṛṣṇe rudatīr bharatastriyaḥ ||
The verse underscores the moral consequence of escalating adharma into war: suffering multiplies and spreads beyond the initial victim. Consolation here is not denial of pain but a sober reminder that collective wrongdoing brings collective grief.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Kṛṣṇa (Keśava) comforts Kṛṣṇā (Draupadī) and foretells that soon she will witness other Bharata women also crying—anticipating widespread mourning as the conflict moves toward catastrophe.
