Amba’s Ascetic Vow, Rudra’s Boon, and Self-Immolation
दाशार्णराजो राजंस्त्वामिदं वचनमत्रवीत् | अभिषष्जात् प्रकुपितो विप्रलब्धस्त्वयानघ
dāśārṇarājo rājaṁs tvām idaṁ vacanam atravīt | abhiṣaṣjāt prakupito vipralabdhastvayānagha ||
使者说道:“大王,达沙尔那之主遣我传此言:他因被你欺诳、受你羞辱而大怒;其怒火因此愈加炽盛。”
दुपद उवाच
The verse highlights how deception and public insult corrode kṣatriya honor and quickly escalate into political hostility; ethical statecraft requires truthful dealing and respect, since wounded prestige becomes a catalyst for conflict.
Drupada reports to a king that the Daśārṇa ruler, feeling cheated and dishonored, has sent a message expressing intense anger—signaling a grievance that may lead to confrontation unless addressed through diplomacy or restitution.
