Bhishma’s Account of Parashurama’s Challenge and the March to Kurukshetra
तत एनं समुद्विग्ना: सर्व एवाभिदुद्रुवु: । तपोधनास्ते सहसा काश्या च कुरुनन्दन
tata enaṁ samudvignāḥ sarva evābhidudruvuḥ | tapodhanās te sahasā kāśyā ca kurunandana ||
于是众人皆心神震荡,立刻奔向他。那些苦行仙人,以及迦尸王之女也同来,噢,俱卢族的欢荣,他们急忙围拢,拥抱抚慰他,洒以清凉之水,并赐下象征胜利的祝福,欲平息他内心的惊惶。
भीष्म उवाच
Even amid crisis and agitation, dharmic conduct includes compassionate care: the wise and the virtuous respond to another’s distress with calming presence, auspicious blessings, and restorative acts rather than harshness or indifference.
Bhīṣma narrates that, seeing him shaken, everyone present—especially the ascetics and the Kāśī king’s daughter—rushes to him and tries to soothe him through physical comfort, cooling water, and victory-blessings meant to restore steadiness and hope.
