Ambā Seeks Refuge with Rāma Jāmadagnya
भीष्म उवाच एवं कथयतामेव तेषां स दिवसो गत: । रात्रिश्न भरतश्रेष्ठ सुखशीतोष्णमारुता
bhīṣma uvāca evaṃ kathayatām eva teṣāṃ sa divaso gataḥ | rātriś ca bharataśreṣṭha sukhaśītoṣṇamārutā ||
毗湿摩说道:“婆罗多族中最杰出者啊,当他们仍在如此交谈之时,那一日已然流逝。夜晚也随之过去——怡然舒适,凉暖相调,又有轻柔微风拂动。”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse underscores how deliberation and counsel can consume time swiftly; in the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war setting, it implicitly warns that unresolved ethical and political tensions persist even as time advances, pressing decision-makers toward timely, dharmic resolution.
Bhishma narrates that as the assembled parties continued their discussion, the entire day passed, and then the night—described as pleasant with mild coolness, warmth, and breezes—also came to an end.
