Ulūka’s Provocation and Keśava’s Counter-Message (उलूकदूत्ये केशवप्रत्युत्तरम्)
ततः प्राज्ञतम: कश्चिड्डिण्डिको नाम मूषिक: । अब्रवीद् वचनं राजन् मूषिकाणां महागणम्
tataḥ prājñatamaḥ kaścid ḍiṇḍiko nāma mūṣikaḥ | abravīd vacanaṃ rājan mūṣikāṇāṃ mahāgaṇam |
三阇耶说道:其时鼠中有一名为“丁迪迦”(Ḍiṇḍika)者,为众鼠之最智。它对那浩大的鼠群开口说道:“大王啊……”此偈铺陈献策之机:共同体中自会生出审慎的领袖,而智者将引导众人走向更安全、更协调的道路。
संजय उवाच
Wisdom within a community should translate into timely counsel: the most discerning person steps forward to guide collective action, emphasizing coordination and foresight rather than impulsive, scattered movement.
Sañjaya introduces a fable-like episode: a very wise mouse named Ḍiṇḍika addresses a large assembly of mice, beginning a speech that will direct their next course of action.
