Educational Q&A

The verse highlights ethical character through two virtues—compassion (ghṛṇā) and truthfulness (satya)—and links them with disciplined Vedic study. Even amid impending war, inner restraint and fidelity to truth are presented as marks of nobility.

Kuntī reaches the Gaṅgā’s bank and hears the solemn sound of Vedic recitation from her son Karṇa. The moment sets a reflective tone before their consequential encounter, emphasizing Karṇa’s cultivated, dharmic disposition.
