Kṛṣṇasya Karṇam Prati Sāntvavacana
Kṛṣṇa’s Conciliatory Address to Karṇa
kuberasadanaṁ prāpya tato ratnāny avāpya ca | sphītam ākramya te rāṣṭraṁ rājyam icchanti pāṇḍavāḥ ||

The verse highlights how claims of rightful rule (rājya) can become inseparable from material resources and strategic advantage (ratnāni), and it implicitly cautions that prosperity and wealth can intensify conflict when political legitimacy is contested.
Bhishma reports that the Pandavas, having gone to Kubera’s abode and obtained precious jewels, are now prepared to march against the prosperous kingdom of their opponents in order to regain their lost sovereignty.
