Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 130: Kuntī’s Instruction on Rājadharma and Daṇḍanīti
sañjayaṃ ca mahābhāgam ṛṣīṃś caiva tapodhanān | prādāt teṣāṃ sa bhagavān divyaṃ cakṣur janārdanaḥ ||
Spiritual and ethical discernment in decisive moments is not merely sensory; it requires inner preparedness (tapas, purity, steadiness) and, ultimately, divine grace. Those endowed with such fitness are enabled to perceive what overwhelms ordinary perception.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Kṛṣṇa (Janārdana) bestows divine sight upon Sañjaya and austere sages so they can behold His extraordinary, terrifyingly radiant manifestation—while others are unable to look upon it.
