अश्चानां काड्क्षितार्थानां पडिमानि शतानि वै | शतद्वयेन कन्येयं भवता प्रतिगृह्मताम्
aśvānāṃ kāṅkṣitārthānāṃ ṣaḍimāni śatāni vai | śatadvayena kanyeyaṃ bhavatā pratigṛhyatām |
那罗陀说道:“尊师在上,此乃您所欲之六百匹马,已如数奉至,以供侍奉。至于尚缺之二百匹,愿您以此少女为代而纳受。”
नारद उवाच
The verse highlights the ethics of fulfilling an agreed obligation through proper offering and respectful speech: what is desired is delivered, and a shortfall is compensated through an alternative accepted within the narrative’s social norms.
Narada reports the delivery of six hundred requested horses and proposes that, in lieu of the remaining two hundred, the recipient should accept a maiden as compensation, indicating a negotiated settlement of a promised payment.
