Uttarā-diśā Māhātmya — Suparṇa’s Praise of the Northern Quarter
Suparṇa–Gālava Saṃvāda
suvarṇaśiraso 'py atra harirómṇaḥ pragāyataḥ | adṛśyasyāprameyasya śrūyate vipulo dhvaniḥ ||
The verse highlights that spiritual reality may be apprehended through sacred sound and disciplined practice rather than through ordinary sight; the sage’s invisibility contrasts with the unmistakable, expansive resonance of Vedic chant.
Yuparṇa reports that in this region the sage Suvarṇaśiras is chanting Sāman hymns; although the sage cannot be seen and is described as beyond measure, the powerful sound of his singing is distinctly heard.
