Indra and Dharma’s Consolation; Celestial Gaṅgā Purification
mahābāhu yudhiṣṭhira! tubhyaṃ akṣayalokāḥ prāptāḥ santi. puruṣasiṃha! prabho! ā-tadā yat jātaṃ tat jātaṃ. idānīṃ punar adhikaṃ duḥkhaṃ soḍhuṃ na āvaśyakam. ehi asmābhiḥ saha gaccha. mahābāho! tava mahātī siddhiḥ prāptā; sahaiva akṣayalokānām api prāptiḥ.
The verse emphasizes ethical acceptance and release: once the consequences of past events have unfolded, one should not cling to further self-imposed suffering. Having fulfilled dharma through endurance, the righteous are invited to move forward toward the imperishable reward (akṣayaloka) rather than remain bound to grief or penance beyond necessity.
In the Svargārohaṇa episode, Yudhiṣṭhira is being addressed and consoled: he is told that he has attained the eternal realms and a great spiritual success (siddhi). The speaker urges him to stop further hardship and to accompany them onward—signaling a transition from earthly trial to heavenly/imperishable attainment.
