Vidura’s Expanded Account of the Path
इस प्रकार श्रीमह्या भारत स्त्रीपर्वके अन्तर्गत जलप्रदानिकपर्वमें धृतराष्ट्रके शोकका निवारणविषयक छठा अध्याय पूरा हुआ,सो<यं लोकसमावर्तों मर्त्यानां भरतर्षभ । चराणां स्थावराणां च न गृध्येत् तत्र पण्डित: भरतश्रेष्ठ! यही मनुष्यों तथा स्थावर-जंगम प्राणियोंका संसारचक्र है। विवेकी पुरुषको इसमें आसक्त नहीं होना चाहिये
so ’yaṁ lokasamāvarto martyānāṁ bharatarṣabha | carāṇāṁ sthāvarāṇāṁ ca na gṛdhyet tatra paṇḍitaḥ ||
“婆罗多族中的雄牛啊,这确是凡人之世的回旋之道——动者与不动者亦复如是。因此,智者不应以贪欲执著于此。”
विदुर उवाच
Worldly life moves in recurring cycles affecting all beings; therefore the wise should not become greedily attached or consumed by craving, especially in the face of loss and change.
In the Strī Parva context of post-war lamentation, Vidura offers counsel meant to ease Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s grief, reminding him that birth, death, and change are part of the universal cycle and should be met with discernment rather than attachment.
