Vāmadeva’s Counsel on Rooted Kingship and Non-violent Victory (वामदेवोपदेशः—दृढमूलराजधर्मः)
जिसे श्रेष्ठ पुरुष बुरा समझते हों, बुद्धिमान राजा वैसा कर्म कभी न करे। जिस कार्यको सबके लिये कल्याणकारी समझे, उसीमें अपने आपको लगावे ।।
na enam anye 'vajānanti na ātmanā paritapyate | kṛtyaśeṣeṇa yo rājā sukhāny anububhūṣati ||
瓦摩提婆说：明智的国王决不可为贤良之士所认定为恶的事；唯当投身于被认为能惠及众人的事业。那位只在尽完本分之后才愿享受安乐的君王，既不为他人所轻蔑，也不为自身所煎熬。
