उतथ्योपदेशः—राजधर्मः, दर्पनिग्रहः, प्रजारक्षणम्

Utathya’s Instruction: Royal Dharma, Restraint of Pride, Protection of Subjects

राजर्षयश्न बहवस्तथा बुध्यस्व पार्थिव । राजा भवति तं जित्वा दासस्तेन पराजित:

rājarṣayaś ca bahavas tathā budhyasva pārthiva | rājā bhavati taṁ jitvā dāsas tena parājitaḥ ||

(rājan! sampattikā putro hi darpaḥ, yo 'dharmāṁśena utpannaḥ—iti śruti-vacanaṁ; tena darpeṇa bahavo devāḥ asurāś ca rājarṣayaś ca vināśitāḥ; ataḥ bhūpāla! adyāpi cetasā budhyasva; yaḥ darpaṁ jayati sa rājā, yaś ca tena parājīyate sa dāsaḥ.)

乌塔提耶说道:“许多王仙因它而遭覆亡——王啊,当明白此理。能战胜傲慢者,方为真王;为其所败者,便成奴隶。吠陀传统宣示:傲慢乃吉祥与富贵(室利 Śrī)之子,由非正法(Adharma)之一分而生。此傲慢毁灭了许多天神、阿修罗与王族圣贤。故而,护国之君啊,即刻觉醒:制伏傲慢即是王权;屈从傲慢便是枷锁。”
