Paraśurāma’s origins and the depletion/restoration of kṣatriya lineages
मरुत्तस्यान्ववाये च रक्षिता: क्षत्रियात्मजा:
maruttasyānvavāye ca rakṣitāḥ kṣatriyātmajāḥ
而在摩鲁多的世系之中,刹帝利之子亦蒙护持——得以保全、得以扶立;这昭示统治者之责:以正当的守护保存武士阶序,并维系社会之安定。
वासुदेव उवाच
The verse underscores rājadharma: the ethical responsibility of rulers and guardians to protect rightful social groups—here, Kṣatriya offspring—so that succession, security, and the stability of dharma are preserved.
Vāsudeva cites the example of King Marutta’s line, stating that in that succession the Kṣatriya-born sons were safeguarded, using precedent to support a broader point about protection, continuity, and proper governance.
