A ruler’s strength is not only armies or wealth but also the presence of genuine well-wishers—loyal friends, allies, and wise counselors. Without such supportive relationships, governance becomes ethically and practically unstable.
Vaiśaṃpāyana continues a description/listing concerning rulers, specifically pointing to “other kings” characterized by the absence of true friends or well-wishers, highlighting their isolation as a significant condition in the discussion.
