ते तेन समनुज्ञाता ब्राह्मणेन भुजड़मा: । स्वमेव भवन जग्मुरकृतार्था नरर्षभ,नरश्रेष्ठ! उस ब्राह्मणके इस प्रकार आदेश देनेपर वे नाग अपने प्रयत्नमें असफल हो घरको ही लौट गये
te tena samanujñātā brāhmaṇena bhujagāḥ | svam eva bhavanaṁ jagmur akṛtārthā nararṣabha ||
于是,那些蛇众得了那位婆罗门的许可,便离去而返归自家住处;其所图之事既已失败。噫,世间最胜之人啊!他们归去而未成来时之志——此中暗示:纵有大力者,若正直之人不予允诺,亦必受制;而无有达摩之认可的欲求,终将归于徒然与懊恼。
ब्राह्मण उवाच
Power and intent alone do not ensure success; when a righteous authority (here, the brāhmaṇa) does not support an action, the attempt becomes fruitless. The verse underscores restraint, rightful permission, and the limits placed on even formidable beings by dharmic order.
After receiving leave from the brāhmaṇa, the serpents withdraw. Their mission fails, so they return to their own abode without achieving their objective.
