Shloka 13

te tena samanujñātā brāhmaṇena bhujagāḥ | svam eva bhavanaṁ jagmur akṛtārthā nararṣabha ||

Educational Q&A

Power and intent alone do not ensure success; when a righteous authority (here, the brāhmaṇa) does not support an action, the attempt becomes fruitless. The verse underscores restraint, rightful permission, and the limits placed on even formidable beings by dharmic order.

After receiving leave from the brāhmaṇa, the serpents withdraw. Their mission fails, so they return to their own abode without achieving their objective.
