अफ-४#-रा- चतुःपज्चाशर्दाधिकत्रिशततमो< ध्याय: अतिथिद्दारा स्वर्गके विभिन्न मार्गोका कथन ब्राह्मण उवाच समुत्पन्नाभिधानो5स्मि वाड्माधुर्येण तेडनघ । मित्रत्वमभिपन्नस्त्वं किंचिद् वक्ष्यामि तच्छुणु
brāhmaṇa uvāca | samutpannābhidhāno 'smi vāṅ-mādhuryena te 'nagha | mitratvam abhipannas tvaṁ kiñcid vakṣyāmi tac chṛṇu ||
婆罗门说道:“无垢之人啊,只因听到你言辞甘美、温雅动人,我心便为你所系,已将你视作朋友。因此我将对你说几句话——请听我所言。”
ब्राह्मण उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical power of gentle, truthful, and pleasing speech: it creates trust and friendship, making moral instruction possible. Right speech (vāṅ-mādhurya) becomes a gateway to dharmic counsel.
A Brāhmaṇa addresses an unnamed interlocutor respectfully as “blameless,” saying that the person’s sweet words have inspired affection and friendship; on that basis, the Brāhmaṇa prepares to offer advice and asks the listener to pay attention.
