अध्याय ३५१ — उञ्छवृत्ति-व्रतसिद्धेः मानुषस्य परमगतिः
Sūrya–Nāga Dialogue on the Perfected Gleaner-Ascetic
वेदाख्याने श्रुति: कार्या त्वया मतिमतां वर । तस्मात् कुरु यथा5ज्ञप्तं ममैतद् वचन मुने
Vaiśampāyana uvāca |
vedākhyāne śrutiḥ kāryā tvayā matimatāṁ vara |
tasmāt kuru yathājñaptaṁ mamaitad vacanaṁ mune ||
毗湿摩波耶那说:“噢,智者之最!为阐释吠陀,你当汇集并编排诸启示之典(śruti)——《梨俱》(Ṛk)、《娑摩》(Sāman)、《夜柔》(Yajus)及其余诸部——各自分列。故而,圣者啊,务必依我所命,如法而行。这便是我对你的谕令。”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
That Vedic knowledge should be preserved and taught through disciplined organization of śruti—collecting and arranging the Vedic materials (Ṛk, Sāman, Yajus, etc.) distinctly—so that explanation and instruction remain accurate and authoritative.
Vaiśampāyana issues a direct instruction to a sage: to undertake the task of compiling/arranging the śruti for the purpose of Vedic exposition, and to execute the work exactly as commanded.
