केनैष धर्म: कथितो देवेन ऋषिणापि वा
Janamejaya uvāca | kenaiṣa dharmaḥ kathito devena ṛṣiṇāpi vā, bhagavan? asya bhaktirūpasya dharmasya kaḥ devatā vā ṛṣiḥ vā upadeṣṭā? ananya-bhaktānāṃ jīvanacaryā kā? sa ca kadā prācīnaḥ pravṛttaḥ? mama saṃśayaṃ nivāraya; etad-viṣayaṃ śrotuṃ mama manasi mahān autkaṇṭhyaḥ ||
阇那美阇耶说道：“尊者，此法由谁宣说——是天神，还是圣仙（ṛṣi）？这以奉爱（bhakti）为体的法，最初由哪位天神或仙人开示？那些一心不二、专诚奉爱的行者，其生活行持为何？此传统自何时起而流行？愿为我断除疑惑；我心切切，极欲闻此。”
