Reflection on the Many ‘Doors’ of Dharma (Śānti-parva 342)

Educational Q&A

All existence—moving and unmoving—has a single ultimate source: Śrī Hari. Even major cosmic functions and deities (creation via Brahmā and transformative destruction via Rudra) are presented as arising from that one supreme principle through grace and wrath, emphasizing unity behind diverse powers.

Arjuna is speaking in praise and theological clarification, identifying the supreme cause of the universe. He asserts that Brahmā manifests through the Lord’s favor and Rudra through the Lord’s fierce energy, thereby locating the cosmos and its governing powers within Śrī Hari as the ultimate origin.
