Atithi-prāpti and the Brāhmaṇa’s Deliberation on Triadic Dharma (अतिथिप्राप्तिः धर्मत्रयविचारश्च)
एष माता पिता चैव युष्माकं च पितामह: । मयानुशिष्टो भविता सर्वभूतवरप्रद:
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
eṣā mātā pitā caiva yuṣmākaṃ ca pitāmahaḥ |
mayānuśiṣṭo bhavitā sarvabhūta-varapradaḥ |
毗舍波耶那说:“此者正是你们的母与父,亦是你们的祖父。依我之教命,他将成为赐福于一切众生者。”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores a dharmic vision of ultimate parentage and authority: the revered figure addressed is presented as the source and elder of all (mother, father, and grandfather), and rightful power—such as granting boons—operates under proper guidance (anuśāsana), not mere impulse.
Vaiśampāyana identifies a highly venerable being to the listeners as their foundational elder (mother, father, grandfather) and declares that, following his directive, this being will act as a universal benefactor who grants boons to all creatures.
