वयं त्वेनं न पश्यामो मोहितास्तस्य मायया । “जैसी बातचीत उन्होंने की थी

vayaṁ tvenaṁ na paśyāmo mohitās tasya māyayā |

毗湿摩说道:“然而我们并未见到祂,因为我们被祂的摩耶(幻力)所迷惑。凭祂说话的方式,我们确信主宰确已降临此处;但由于被祂自身的幻力所遮蔽,我们终究无法瞻见祂。”

Even when the divine is present, human perception can remain veiled by māyā—one may infer the Lord’s presence through signs (such as speech and conduct) yet still fail to directly perceive Him. The verse highlights humility and the ethical need to recognize the limits of ordinary cognition.

Bhishma reflects that they were convinced the Lord had come—based on what was said and how it was said—but they could not actually behold Him because they were bewildered by His own māyā, which conceals His true form from those not granted direct vision.
