True discernment (the ability to distinguish higher from lower, enduring from transient) is a spiritual power rooted in knowledge, and it is imperishable. Such vision is stable across changing circumstances and does not collapse with external loss or inner fluctuation.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction-oriented setting, Nārada speaks as a teacher, emphasizing the nature of enduring wisdom: the knower’s vision remains constant and comprehensive, perceiving beings through all conditions rather than being misled by temporary states.
