Janaka–Sulabhā Dialogue on Mokṣa and Non-attachment
वह यह जीवात्मा पूर्वोक्त प्रकारसे ही मुक्त हो सकता है, अन्यथा नहीं। यही विद्वानोंका निश्चय है। यह दूसरेसे मिलकर उसीका समानधर्मी हो जाता है ।।
viśuddhadharmā śuddhena buddhena ca sa buddhimān | vimuktadharmā muktena sametya puruṣarṣabha ||
瓦西什塔说道:人中雄牛啊,这有智慧的自我,行持既已净化,与其所亲近的清净而觉醒者相交,便在性相上趋于同类。又如其性向已得解脱者,与已解脱者相合;故解脱唯依先前所说之道而得,别无他途——此乃诸贤者所共定之论。
वसिष्ठ उवाच
Liberation is achieved only through the previously stated discipline: purification of one’s nature and association with the pure and awakened. By meeting and aligning with the liberated, one becomes similar in disposition and moves toward freedom; this is presented as the firm conclusion of the learned.
Vasiṣṭha instructs his listener (addressed as ‘puruṣarṣabha’) within the Śānti Parva’s mokṣa-oriented discourse, emphasizing that the jīva’s transformation depends on purity and the company of the wise/liberated, not on any alternative route.
