Saṃhāra-krama (The Sequence of Cosmic Dissolution) — Yājñavalkya’s Discourse
dīpayanti mahātmānaḥ sūkṣmam ātmānam ātmanā | vītarāgā mahāprājñā dhyānādhyapanasampadā ||

True insight arises when noble, discerning people purify themselves of attachment and, through meditation and disciplined study, make the subtle inner Self directly evident—illumining it by their own inner capacity rather than relying on external supports.
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction on dharma and inner discipline, Bhīṣma continues teaching about the path of wisdom: he describes the qualities and practices of realized persons—dispassion, deep understanding, meditation, and study—by which they come to clear knowledge of the Self.
