Reliable knowledge should be sought from a trustworthy, direct witness; truthful narration (yathāvṛttaṁ) is upheld as a dharmic standard for understanding events and making ethical judgments.
Vāyudeva points the inquirer to Nārada, identifying him as the firsthand witness of the relevant events and stating that Nārada will recount the full account accurately when questioned.
