nāyaṁ parasya sukṛtaṁ duṣkṛtaṁ cāpi sevate | karoti yādṛśaṁ karma tādṛśaṁ pratipadyate ||
Each individual is responsible for their own actions and experiences the corresponding results; merit and sin are not transferable from one person to another.
In Śānti Parva’s didactic discourse, the sage Parāśara instructs on ethical causality (karma): the fruits of action adhere to the doer alone, reinforcing personal accountability as a basis for dharma.
