Śoka-śamana: Kṛṣṇa’s Consolation and Nārada’s Exempla to Sṛñjaya
Chapter 29
चषाले यस्य सौवर्णे तस्मिन् यूपे हिरण्मये । ननुतुर्देवगन्धर्वा: घट सहस्रनाणि सप्तधा
caṣāle yasya sauvarṇe tasmin yūpe hiraṇmaye | nanutur devagandharvāḥ ghaṭa-sahasraṇāṇi saptadhā |
伐由说道:“那金色祭柱(yūpa)上又饰以金制的箍环(caṣāla);无数天神与乾闼婆众以种种节拍起舞。其间,毗湿婆婆苏(Viśvāvasu)亲自端坐中央,依七音之律拨奏维那琴(vīṇā)。在这奇妙的祭仪中,众生各自以为:‘此乐唯为我而奏。’”
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse highlights how righteous, well-performed sacrifice and patronage of sacred rites are portrayed as generating a harmony that benefits all—so much so that each being feels personally included. Ethically, it underscores the ideal of actions that create shared auspiciousness rather than private gain.
Vāyu describes a magnificent sacrificial setting: a golden yūpa adorned with a golden caṣāla, where Devas and Gandharvas dance, and the Gandharva Viśvāvasu plays the vīṇā according to the seven notes, creating an all-encompassing, universally felt celebration.
