Chapter 29
अमाद्यदिन्द्र: सोमेन दक्षिणाभिद्धिजातय: । “यजमान अंग जब विष्णुपद पर्वतपर यज्ञ कर रहे थे, उस समय इन्द्र वहाँ सोमरस पीकर मतवाले हो उठे थे और दक्षिणाओंसे ब्राह्मणोंपर भी आनन्दोन्माद छा गया था ।।
amādyad indraḥ somena dakṣiṇābhir dvijātayaḥ |
风神伐由说道:“因陀罗饮苏摩而沉醉,二生者(婆罗门)亦因丰厚的祭礼之酬(dakṣiṇā)而欢欣激荡。”
वायुदेव उवाच
Ritual power and prosperity can easily slide into intoxication—literal or metaphorical. The verse implicitly underscores dharma as inner discipline: sacred acts bear fruit when governed by restraint, not by indulgence or pride in abundance.
Vāyu describes an ancient sacrificial setting where Indra drinks Soma and becomes exhilarated, while the Brahmins, receiving generous dakṣiṇās, also become joyfully carried away—portraying the heightened, celebratory atmosphere surrounding a great yajña.
