Adhyāya 287 — Janaka’s Inquiry on Śreyas, Abhayadāna, and Asaṅga

भवानेवंविधो<स्माकं संशयं छेत्तुमरहति । अमूढश्चिरमूढानां लोकतत्त्वमजानताम्
bhavānevamvidho 'smākaṃ saṃśayaṃ chettum arhati | amūḍhaś ciramūḍhānāṃ lokatattvam ajānatām ||
毗湿摩说道:“如您这般的智者,确实堪当为我们斩断疑惑。因为我们久陷迷妄,不识世间真实的法则;唯有如您这般不迷不惑的知者,才能消除我们这类人的不确定与疑惧。”
भीष्म उवाच
True understanding (loka-tattva) dispels doubt; those who are clear-minded and knowledgeable are uniquely qualified to guide the long-ignorant, and humility is the proper stance of the seeker.
Bhishma addresses a revered interlocutor, acknowledging his own side’s long-standing ignorance and requesting that the wise person remove their uncertainty by explaining the truth of reality and right understanding.
