Mokṣa-dharma: Cutting the Bonds of Attachment

Cultivate steady inner contentment, keep the senses serene, exclude fear, practice mantra-repetition (especially Oṃ), and adopt silence and dispassion—disciplines that stabilize character and support liberation-oriented living.
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction section, Bhīṣma continues advising Yudhiṣṭhira on the qualities and practices of a disciplined, peace-seeking person, emphasizing inner restraint over external action.
