भ्रम॑ं सम्मोहमावर्तम भ्यासाद् विनिवर्तयेत् । निद्रां च प्रतिभां चैव ज्ञानाभ्यासेन तत्त्ववित्
bhramaṁ sammoham āvartaṁ abhyāsād vinivartayet | nidrāṁ ca pratibhāṁ caiva jñānābhyāsena tattvavit tattvavettā puruṣaḥ ||
毗湿摩说:通达真实者,应以恒常修习,回转迷乱、痴惑与心识扰动之旋涡。又当以如实知见的严谨练习,除去昏沉睡意(懈怠)以及“pratibhā”——那种追逐多境的散乱机敏——因为它们同样会成为明澈理解与正行的障碍。
भीष्म उवाच
Persistent practice (abhyāsa), specifically the cultivation of true knowledge (jñānābhyāsa), is the remedy for mental errors—confusion, delusion, and turbulent distraction—and also for lethargy and a scattered, many-objected cleverness (pratibhā) that can hinder steady insight.
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction on dharma and inner discipline, Bhishma continues advising Yudhiṣṭhira on how a seeker should train the mind: by repeated practice, one should remove cognitive and behavioral obstacles that block clear discernment and righteous living.
