Educational Q&A

Anger is overcome by kṣamā (forbearance), desire is weakened by giving up saṅkalpa (the mental projecting/plotting that feeds craving), and spiritual steadiness is strengthened by cultivating sattva, which also reduces tamasic sleep and supports liberation.

In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and the path of inner peace after the war; here he gives concise practical disciplines for a seeker: patience against anger, renunciation of desire-producing intentions, and sāttvika practice to overcome lethargy.
