परिव्राजक-आचारः (Conduct of the Wandering Renunciant) — Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 269
पन्थानो ब्रह्मणस्त्वेते एतै: प्राप्नोति यत्परम् तद् विद्वाननुबुद्धयेत मनसा कर्मनिश्चयम्
panthāno brahmaṇas tv ete etaiḥ prāpnoti yat param | tad vidvān anubuddhyeta manasā karma-niścayam ||
迦毗罗说:“此诸道途,能趋向梵(Brahman)。由此诸道,人得至上。是故智者当以心明辨业行之真实决断与其果报。”此处所谓“道途”,乃净化行为之伦理修持:悲悯一切众生、宽恕、安宁、非暴力(不害)、真实、坦直、不怀恶意、谦卑、知耻、忍耐与自制——以此作为证悟最高实相之切实方便。
कपिल उवाच
Ethical virtues are presented as concrete ‘paths’ to realizing Brahman; the wise should mentally discern the true nature and outcome of actions, aligning conduct with compassion, non-violence, truth, humility, forbearance, and self-restraint.
In the Shanti Parva’s instructional setting, Kapila is speaking as a teacher of liberation, summarizing the means to attain the Supreme and urging reflective discernment (manasā) about action (karma) and its decisive import (niścaya).
