Adhyāya 262: Śabda-brahman, Para-brahman, and the Ethics of Tyāga
Kapila–Syūmaraśmi Saṃvāda
patnīṁ cānena vidhinā prakaroti niyojayan | iṣṭaṁ tu daivataṁ kṛtvā yathā yajñam avāpnuyāt ||
The verse teaches an interiorized ritual ethic: true sacrificial success depends on śraddhā (faith/reverence). By making faith one’s ‘wife’ (the essential partner in yajña) and treating yajña itself as the worship-worthy focus, one attains Viṣṇu as Yajñapuruṣa.
In Śānti Parva’s instruction on dharma, Tulādhāra explains how a practitioner should orient household and ritual life: offerings are to be made with reverence, and the sacrifice is to be regarded as sacred in itself, culminating in devotion to Viṣṇu as the divine reality reached through proper yajña.
