Kapila–Cow Dialogue: Authority of Householder and Renunciant Dharmas
अदृश्यमानो रक्षोभिर्जलमध्ये वर्देस्तथा । अब्रूवंश्व पिशाचास्तं नैवं त्वं वक्तुमहसि
adṛśyamānā rakṣobhir jalāmadhye vṛdeḥ tathā | abruvaṃś ca piśācās taṃ naivaṃ tvaṃ vaktum arhasi ||
毗湿摩说道:当圣者阇阇利居于水泽之地,且令罗刹不得见其形,而说出那般言语时,隐形的毗舍遮便对他说道:“牟尼啊,你不应如此言说。”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse frames a moral check on speech: even an ascetic’s words are subject to dharmic scrutiny, and one should not speak in a manner deemed improper or harmful; restraint and right speech are implied as ethical duties.
Sage Jājali, living in a watery region while remaining unseen to rākṣasas, says something (from the prior context). In response, unseen piśācas address him and admonish him, telling him that he should not speak in that way.
