Tulādhāra’s Instruction to Jājali on Ahiṃsā and Abhaya-dāna

尤狄施提罗说道:“理智(buddhi)为何说只有五种德相?五根(诸感官)又为何也被称作‘德相’(诸大种之德相)?祖父啊,请将这一切——这微妙之智——为我详尽开示。”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse frames a metaphysical inquiry: Yudhiṣṭhira asks Bhīṣma to clarify how the intellect is described as fivefold in qualities and how the five sense-faculties can be treated as ‘qualities’—a subtle doctrinal point typically explained through Sāṅkhya-style analysis of mind, senses, and elemental properties.
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction setting, Yudhiṣṭhira, seeking clarity after the war, questions the elder Bhīṣma (Pitāmaha) and requests a complete explanation of a fine philosophical topic concerning buddhi, indriyas, and guṇas.
