Dharma-Pramāṇa-Vicāra: The Elusiveness of Dharma and the Limits of Rule-Lists
यथाहनि तथा रात्रौ यथा रात्रौ तथाहनि । वशे तिष्ठति सत्त्वात्मा सततं योगयोगिनाम्
yathāhani tathā rātrau yathā rātrau tathāhani | vaśe tiṣṭhati sattvātmā satataṃ yogayoginām ||
毗耶娑说:对于专志于瑜伽、内在由萨埵(sattva)所主宰的瑜伽行者,自我恒常处于其控制之中——昼如夜,夜如昼。无论醒与睡,他们经调伏的觉知不为躁动的欲望所制;安定与主宰绵延不绝。
व्यास उवाच
True yogic discipline is continuous: the purified self (sattvātmā) remains under one’s mastery equally in day and night, in waking and sleeping, indicating stable freedom from agitation and desire.
Vyāsa is describing the hallmark of accomplished yogins in the Śānti Parva’s instruction: their inner self does not fluctuate with external conditions or time; it abides steadily under control at all times.
