Jñāna-plava (The Raft of Knowledge): Svabhāva, Prajñā, and the Ascent to Ātmajñāna
नाप्राप्तमनुशोचन्ति प्राप्तकालानि कुर्वते । न चातीतानि शोचन्ति न चैव प्रतिजानते
na aprāptam anuśocanti prāptakālāni kurvate | na ca atītāni śocanti na ca eva pratijānate ||
耆吉湿婆耶说道:智者不为未至之事而忧伤。他们只在时机成熟时履行当行之责。他们不哀叹已逝之事,也不以誓愿与僵硬的承诺束缚自身。
जैगीषव्य उवाच
Do not waste the mind in anxiety over what has not happened or regret over what is finished; perform the duty that is presently due, without binding oneself through impulsive vows.
In Śānti Parva’s instruction on conduct and inner discipline, the speaker Jaigiṣavya describes the disposition of the wise: they stay anchored in the present duty, free from future-oriented worry and past-oriented sorrow.
