वाक् च शब्दविशेषार्थमिति पज्चान्वितं विदु: । एवमेकादशैतानि बुद्धया55शु विसृजेन्मन:
vāk ca śabdaviśeṣārtham iti pañcānvitaṃ viduḥ | evam ekādaśaitāni buddhyāśu visṛjen manaḥ ||
毗湿摩说道:言语之根,专为发出声音并分辨其差别而设;由此可知,五种行动之根各与其五种对象相系。如此,意——连同十一种机能——应凭智(buddhi)的辨别之力,迅速舍离其所缘之境,由逐境之行转向内在的摄持与克制。
भीष्म उवाच
That the faculties (including speech and the other senses) are oriented toward their objects, but one should, using buddhi (discriminative intellect), promptly abandon attachment to those objects—practicing indriya-nigraha (sense-restraint) and inner renunciation.
In Śānti Parva’s instruction on dharma and liberation, Bhīṣma continues his philosophical exposition to Yudhiṣṭhira, explaining the functional relation between faculties and their objects and urging disciplined withdrawal from sense-objects through discernment.
