Ajagara-vrata (The ‘Python’ Discipline): Prahrāda Questions a Wandering Sage
tasya priyaṁ kariṣyāmi sa hi mām āśritaḥ sadā | bhrātā me bāndhavaś cāsau sakhā ca hṛdayaṅgamaḥ ||

The verse highlights an ethical ideal of reciprocity and steadfast loyalty: when someone has consistently relied upon you and stands in bonds of kinship and friendship, it is righteous to act for their welfare and fulfill what is dear to them.
Bhishma declares his intention to carry out a request or desired act for a particular person, justifying it by the enduring relationship: that person has long depended on him and is regarded as brother, kinsman, and intimate friend.
