Daṇḍa as the Foundation of Social Order (दण्डप्रतिष्ठा)
यदीद धर्मतो राज्यं विहितं यद्यधर्मत:ः । कार्यस्तत्र न शोको वै भुड्क्ष्य भोगान् यजस्व च,यह राज्य धर्मसे प्राप्त हुआ हो या अधर्मसे, इसके लिये शोक नहीं करना चाहिये। आप भोग भोगिये और यज्ञ कीजिये
yadīdaṃ dharmato rājyaṃ vihitaṃ yady adharmataḥ | kāryas tatra na śoko vai bhuṅkṣva bhogān yajāsva ca ||
阿周那说道:“无论这王权是因达摩而得,抑或甚至因阿达摩而来,都不应因此而悲伤。接受落在你份上的享乐,并且也当举行祭祀(yajña)。”
अजुन उवाच
Do not be consumed by grief over the moral ambiguity of political power; instead, stabilize the mind, accept what has come, and uphold dharma through rightful enjoyment and the performance of yajña (social-religious duty).
Arjuna addresses another party about the acquisition of kingship, arguing that whether sovereignty was obtained through righteous means or not, lamentation is unproductive; one should proceed by living responsibly and maintaining dharmic order through sacrifice and duty.
