Dasyu-maryādā and Buddhi-guided Rāja-nīti
sarvatra ramate prājñaḥ sarvatra ca virājate | na vibhīṣayate kaścid bhīṣito na bibheti ca ||
True wisdom expresses itself as inner contentment and fearlessness: the wise remain joyful and dignified everywhere, and external threats do not disturb their mind.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on right conduct and inner discipline, Brahmadatta states a general maxim describing the character of a truly wise person—unintimidated by others and steady in all circumstances.
