The verse presents tapas (disciplined austerity) and śruta (scriptural learning) as complementary sources of spiritual efficacy. Ethical authority is implied to arise from inner restraint and right knowledge, enabling swift, purposeful action aligned with dharma.
The speaker reports that a dharma-minded figure, using the force of his austerities and learning, quickly summoned or had brought the son of a certain person to the place where the events are unfolding.
