व्युत्थानं च विकांक्षद्धिः कथाभि: प्रतिलोभ्यते । धनेन महता चैव बुद्धिरस्य विलोभ्यते
vyutthānaṁ ca vikāṅkṣaddhiḥ kathābhiḥ pratilobhyate | dhanena mahatā caiva buddhir asya vilobhyate ||
他们盼他动摇、弃其坚守，故以种种言辞诱惑；又以厚财为饵，欲迷其心智，陷其判断于贪欲之网。此偈昭示：道德之坚忍，往往不是被强力击破，而是被谄媚、辞令与物欲所侵蚀。
